About KADO the GIft

In a creative effort to take a stand for sustainability, we are building a wooden toy segment as an internal startup, called Kado the Gift. Kado is a beautiful, handcrafted wooden toy recycled from cedar slat by-products and waste.

Wood toys have been trending around the world, and we hope to seize both a market opportunity and pursue a long-term vision of replacing plastic toys with all-natural, fossil-fuel-free delights. Kado gifts are the perfect tool for parents to teach kids from early age of the importance of sustainability.

All wood is sourced from fully sustainable forests. We only use slats that were destined for trash; no extra trees were cut down for these toys. We only use water-based paints and all-natural ingredients like beeswax. Each toy was designed for maximum safety precautions and made with lots of love, for toddlers’ fun and parents’ peace of mind.

To further amplify the impact, Kado the Gift is partnering with One Tree Planted, a non-profit organization dedicated to much-needed global reforestation. For every Kado toy purchase, One Tree Planted will plant 5 trees. The trees are planted in Tanjung Putting National Park in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, to help with the reforestation of a national park filled with Earth’s most beloved animals and plants, including colourful birds, orangutans, and proboscis monkeys.

In the brief 2 months since Kado the Gift was born, we have already been able to plant 205 trees here in Indonesia. We aim to plant as many trees as possible to ensure that our loved ones have a chance and future on our home planet.
