PT SHR’s Jabon Community Forest is a socially based forestry model managed by PT Sentosa Hastareksa to facilitate member farmers so that the land they manage is in accordance with the 10 FSC^® Principles. Our community forestry works with many local farmers from different locations, so our forest locations are spread across several districts in West Java.

We focus on maintaining and growing SuperK (Antocephalus Cadamba) and ensuring that all wood produced is certified and complies with FSC^® standards and regulations. The wood produced from this forestry will later be used as material for making pencils by our sister company.

As facilitators of social-based farmer groups, we actively contribute to fostering each farmer from planting, seeding, maintenance to the wood harvesting process. Each process is always guided by our field facilitators so that it always complies with the FSC^® principles and criteria procedures.

In addition to fostering social-based farmer groups in managing forests, we are also committed to playing an active role in fostering the community by conducting various guidance related to high conservation areas, maintenance techniques, pests and diseases, and other social activities aimed at educating the community, in which we hope will be able to boost the local community’s economy for the better through these programs.

As a group of forest management entities, we also carry out sustainable production practices as our contribution to the environment and timber legality. We also conducted an inventory survey on each tree managed by the farmer group to facilitate chain of custody from product to back to stump or vice versa according to the FSC^® chain of custody scheme.
